Dear Diary,
We have been making some updates to our kitchen. When I decided on a new table, I realized the chandelier wasn’t going to be centered. After doing some research, I learned how to swag it and convinced Sean to agree!
If you have a light fixture that isn’t centered, keep reading!
What You Need:
- Enough wire and chain from your light fixture
- Stud finder
- Pencil
- Swag hook kit
How To:
First, decide where you want the fixture to be and find a stud in the ceiling.
Once you find the stud, make a mark with a pencil so you know where to put your hook.
Screw the hook into the ceiling and slightly pull down on it to be sure it is secure.
Hang your light fixture on the hook to your desired height.
Rewire your light fixture.
That’s it! You have a centered light fixture! And I think that it adds a lot of character to your space.
Before & After:
This is also a great way to hang a fixture from the ceiling if you don’t have an electrical box. You can get a plug-in fixture and hook it to the ceiling!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my not-so-secret diary!
