Cleaning Routine

Dear Diary,

I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a “clean freak”, but it’s mostly because it eases my anxiety and makes me feel comfortable and productive.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not perfect. Some days I absolutely throw all my clothes on the floor, leave all the dirty dishes in the sink, and jump into bed; but most of the time I like to tidy things up.

Though this sounds crazy to some people, it’s actually super manageable if you have a routine! I thrive off of routines that help me keep up with a healthy lifestyle, and this is definitely one of them!

Daily Cleaning Routine:

I try to complete these little things daily, but I don’t always get to them all!

It should NEVER take more than 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night. These are quick little ways to keep up with the weekly projects. That’s what makes it so doable!

Also, if I feel something isn’t necessary that day, I skip it!

Morning:

  • Make the bed
  • Wipe down bathroom countertop/sink
  • Put away clean dishes
  • One load of laundry
  • Wipe down makeup desk

Afternoon/Evening:

  • Put away laundry
  • Organize mail
  • Wipe down kitchen countertops
  • Put dirty dishes in dishwasher
  • Sweep kitchen floors
  • Take out trash
  • Fix pillows and blankets in living room
  • Declutter stair basket (we keep a basket next to the stairs and fill it throughout the day with things that need to be carried upstairs. At the end of the night, we take it up and put the items back where they belong! In the morning, we put the basket back!)

Weekly:

Each day of the week, I tackle one project to focus on. That way, I never feel like I’m cleaning the entire house one Saturday out of the month. Doing it once a week also makes it easier to keep up with because then it doesn’t build up as much!

  • Wash towels
