As you might know, I wake up every morning no later than 5 A.M.
Though it’s not always easy, it’s always worth it! I feel ready + energized when I get myself moving early in the morning.
Here are some tips to helping you wake up early in the morning!
1. Get everything you need ready the night before.
I make my lunch, set out what I need for breakfast, pick out my outfit, + anything else to make the morning easy. This way, I don’t have to think about anything in the morning. I can just jump right up + get the day started.
2. Plan tomorrow today.
Take a few minutes before bed to plan out the next day or make a to do list. This will keep you from wondering what you need to do first when you wake up. You can start on that to do list without even thinking!
3. Put your phone away before bed.
This one can be difficult, but it really helps. I choose a time about half an hour before I go to bed + unplug. This way, I can get ready for bed without checking my phone. This also is amazing once actually getting into bed because aimlessly scrolling through social media doesn’t keep me up. When I don’t do this, I always end up being awake later.
3. Get 6-8 hours of sleep.
If I don’t get a good night’s sleep, there is no way I’m getting up when that 4:50 alarm goes off. I try to start to unwind around 9/9:30 so I am in bed early enough to get my rest. When I get my 6-8 hours, it doesn’t feel any different waking up at 5. If I were to be up until midnight the night before though, it would be far more difficult. It’s all about balance!
4. DO NOT hit snooze.
Once you start relying on that snooze button, there is no turning back. If you hit it once, you are likely to hit it at least 2 more times. I like to set 2 or 3 alarms so that if I am really tired, I can wait until that last alarm goes off to get out of bed.
5. Do not scroll through your phone before getting out of bed.
Similar to number 2, don’t lay in bed procrastinating getting up by scrolling through your Instagram feed. Once you start scrolling, it’s not always easy to stop. You start scrolling + all of a sudden you realize 15 minutes have gone by! It’s not worth it. Save the scrolling for later + get your butt out of bed!
