8 Fitness Motivation Hacks

Dear Diary,

As much as I want to be this awesome fitness guru, I find it really difficult to find the motivation to workout and eat healthy! My biggest motivation, of course, is my wedding next summer, but some days I just would rather eat a bag of chips and take a nap than eat a healthy lunch and go to the gym.

Since it’s never easy to push yourself, I decided to compile a list of tips to help me stay motivated! They have really been helping me out the last few weeks, so I thought I would pass them along to the Diary!

1. Have the Right Goals

This is something that I still struggle with somedays, but it is SO important to have the proper mindset and goals. If you only want to lose weight because you hate the way you look, then it’s never going to happen! I decided to change my mindset and focus on feeling better and being healthier rather than focusing on the scale or how I look in the mirror. Of course I want to look my best on my wedding day, but I also want to FEEL my best.

When you have the right mind set, things will start to change so much faster and you will be happier! If you only see the scale or the mirror, you will never find happiness with yourself.

2. Find What You Like

Just because that fitness girl you follow on Instagram likes to run 3 miles a day to lose weight, does NOT mean that’s what you have to do! If you hate running, then don’t do it! Find something that you enjoy. If you don’t find have some fun during you workouts, then you will give up so much faster.

Find workouts that make you feel good while you have fun. I found that I love spin classes, doing HIIT training on the treadmill, and doing yoga.

I like that I found a few things that I really enjoy so I don’t get bored! If you feel sick of doing the same workout every single day, than you should try to switch it up and go find something else you love. This way, you can rotate through your amazing and fun workouts!

3. Buy New Workout Clothes

Don’t you feel amazing when you throw a new dress or shoes on? Well it’s the same with workout clothes!!

If I buy a new pair of workout leggings and sneakers, I can’t WAIT to wear them! Of course this is some easy motivation to throw those clothes on and hit the gym!

4. Don’t Limit Yourself (EAT DESSERT!)

I try not to think of healthy living as a short-term thing or a diet, I want it to be a lifestyle! This means that you can’t always say no to snacks and desserts. If you are out with your family and really want that dessert, have the dessert!!! Because if you don’t, you won’t stop thinking about it and end up binging later instead. With that said, you shouldn’t have a piece of cake every night, but it’s all about balance!

5. Get a Water Bottle you Love

I know you’ve heard a thousand times to drink lots of water. It’s not easy to drink as much as we are supposed to! What helps me, is to always have a water bottle in hand with me.

Another tip that seems silly but totally works is to use a bottle with a straw! When you have a straw you don’t even notice that you are drinking!

You can also add fruit to your water or drink seltzer to help you get all that water in your body!

6. Find Quotes that Inspire You

This one is so easy!! If you are anything like me, you love inspirational quotes! They totally help me get excited to get moving. I put a few up in my workout space at home to help when I’m feeling too tired.

7. Have Fun with Healthy Eating

Eating healthy doesn’t have to taste bad or be a pain! Find foods that fill you up and that you enjoy. If you are eating things just because they are healthy but you don’t actually enjoy them, you will end up eating something bad for you later on to fill you up.

8. Prep Your Snacks

Lots of people talk about prepping your meals, but I think prepping your snacks is just as important!

When we think of snacks, we usually want something that is easy and quick to grab and eat. If you have the choice to eat a bag of cheetos or to rinse and cut up some veggies, you probably will grab the cheetos because it’s more convenient.

I find it helpful to prep my snacks as soon as I get back from the grocery store or when I am cooking dinner. While you already have the supplies out, rinse off all of your fruits and veggies, cut them up, and put them in a container. This way, when you want a healthy snack, you just have to go in the fridge and grab it the same way you would grab those cheetos from the pantry!

The most important thing to remember is to find what is best for YOU! Everyone’s journey is going to be different!

Comment to tell me what your favorite tip is!

Thanks so much for stopping by to read my Not-So-Secret Diary!

xx,

Beth
